Our Vigilant MRD (Modular Radiation Detection) systems are now being deployed across the UK. These modular, vehicle-mounted units are designed for flexible use – on the move, stationary, or at pop-up checkpoints, supporting wide-area radiation detection wherever it’s needed.

This deployment marks continued progress in modular mobile solutions, offering reliable, field-ready capabilities for national security operations.

UK Border Force wins Global Customs Innovation Award (GCIA)

We are thrilled to celebrate the success of the UK Border Force ‘ScanApp’ enterprise software, which has been recognized globally for its ground breaking work in customs security. Symetrica is proud to have played a part in this achievement by contributing our innovative Sym-X; an X-ray image viewing technology. This recognition proves the power of strategic partnerships and innovative technologies in delivering impactful, award-winning solutions.

Organized by the Pan European Network of Customs Practitioners (PEN-CP), the GCIA recognizes exceptional advancements in border security and customs controls, with entries from across the world. Out of sixteen global submissions, including contenders from Lithuania, Switzerland, Abu Dhabi, Kenya, South Africa, and New Zealand, ScanApp triumphed in Track 2 for its innovative approach to streamlining cargo scanning.

By integrating Symetrica’s Sym-X into the web-based Border Force Scan App, the ScanApp provides real-time X-ray image analysis for detecting prohibited items, with centralized management anddata collection—all without the need for additional training. This integration is a key element in driving operational efficiency and strategic decision-making.  Moreover, Sym-X is also central to Discovery™, our scalable enterprise platform, which enhances threat detection and operational performance across critical infrastructure sites.

Symetrica wins multi-year contract in Saudi Arabia

Symetrica is thrilled to announce a multi-year framework contract for the installation of radiation portal monitors in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This achievement is the result of a joint effort with our commercial partner; National Advanced Systems Company Ltd (NASCO) based in Riyadh. The contract includes the supply, installation and ongoing support of more than 35 Symetrica Radiation Portal Monitor (RPM) vehicle screening systems along with the company’s common integration platform software – Discovery.

Symetrica RPM solutions are customizable to fit specific customer requirements while exceeding international standards for vehicle screening of radiological and nuclear threat materials. This contract marks another milestone in Symetrica’s success in the Middle East. We are grateful for the support from our business partner NASCO.

Symetrica welcomes new Chief Commercial Officer Jim Viscardi

Symetrica is excited to announce that Jim Viscardi has joined the company as our new Chief Commercial Officer. Jim comes to us from Ava Group, where he held the position of Executive Vice President for Global Security Sales and Marketing.

With an MBA from the University of Rochester, Jim began his commercial career in the safety and security industry at Smith’s Detection. He brings a strong track record of driving market growth, building lasting customer relationships, and developing high-performing sales teams, particularly within the government security sector. As a key member of the global leadership team, Jim will lead Symetrica’s commercial strategy and growth initiatives.

Symetrica Soars to New Heights!

A resounding congratulations to Dr. Grant Crossingham, co-founder of Symetrica, for his remarkable achievements in the world of hang gliding. Dr. Crossingham recently clinched victories at the prestigious French Open and National Hang Gliding Championships, as well as the British National Championship, both of which took place this month in the stunning French Alps.

Each of these challenging competitions spanned a week, with pilots covering several hundred kilometers to secure their positions. Dr. Crossingham, piloting the Symetrica glider, emerged victorious, taking first place overall. Notably, French champion Laurent Thevenot finished eighth overall. Just a week later, the Symetrica glider claimed another triumph at the British Championship.

With this latest win, Dr. Crossingham has now matched the record for the most British Championships won—an impressive nine titles. Even more remarkably, he has secured the championship an unprecedented six consecutive times!

Reflecting on his achievement, Dr. Crossingham said, “I’m thrilled to have won these championships, but it wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible hard work and support from my team and Symetrica. A massive thank you to everyone involved!”

Symetrica moves to new offices

Symetrica Security Limited based in the UK is thrilled to announce our move to new offices and laboratory space within the Southampton Science Park, owned by Southampton University. Our newly designed workspace offers ample room for our staff members to thrive, grow, and solve some of the hardest detection challenges reflecting our ambitious innovation based growth plans. Southampton Science Park, a hub for successful science and technology enterprises in the south of England, provides an inspiring environment for innovation, and we are delighted to join this dynamic community of forward-thinking organisations.

Industry showcase at MoD’s Abbey Wood

Symetrica recently attended an industry showcase at MoD’s Abbey Wood. Defense representatives from the UK and US had the opportunity to meet with staff from industry leading CBRN companies to discuss current and future system requirements.
