Robot Dogs bark louder with VeriFinder

Symetrica continues to expand deployment of its industry leading radnuc detection RIDs to autonomous robot mission systems. We have recently fielded our VeriFinder attached to robot dogs and trialled them at the Barksdale Air Force base in the U.S. This complimentary merger of RID and robot, supports mission critical work in hazardous environments and dangerous missions without risking airmen in the process. Tablets are used to remote control the robot dog via an app which teams can use to make the dog sit, stand, walk, run, bark and growl.

These capabilities were showcased to 50 countries at the CSCM World Congress in Croatia.

The VeriFinder demonstrated is designed to locate, identify, and characterise radiological and nuclear (RN) material including special nuclear materials.

75th Radiation Portal Monitor delivered to U.S. port

Symetrica is proud to have recently shipped its 75th Radiation Portal Monitor (RPM) under the U.S. RPM Replacement Program.  These advanced technology monitoring systems will be operated by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) along the country’s most critical ports of entry.  Symetrica’s RPM is one of two systems approved for deployment in the U.S. and provides increased detection capabilities and dramatically reduced false alarms – enhancing security while improving operational efficiency for our border security officers.

Symetrica has transformed its operations over the past two years to increase capacity to support CBP deployments and the adoption of high-performance RPMs around the world.  Doug Deihl, CCO and GM of Operations said, “We have invested in people, processes, and systems to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.  Our team has done an amazing job ramping up production and we are proud that our technology is being deployed at U.S. borders.”

Portals deployed to the Port of North Charleston, South Carolina

Symetrica, in conjunction with its prime partner Leidos, has deployed two latest generation radiation portal monitors to the port of North Charleston, South Carolina. In 2021, Leidos and Symetrica were awarded one of two 100+ portal contracts to deliver these systems over the next 18 months.

This deployment is the final phase in a 10-year effort by Symetrica and DHS CWMD to upgrade the radnuc monitoring and detection capability on the U.S. borders and ports. These RPMs offer increased sensitivity to nuclear threats whilst minimising nuisance alarms due to natural background radiation and Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM) shipments. The portals feature continual communication of system health and are the only systems to have active, continuous internal stabilization.
