Emily Pearce is back at Symetrica as a Detector Physicist

Symetrica are very pleased to announce the return of Emily Pearce to our business as a top graduate from the University of Southampton.

Emily has recently achieved a 1st class integrated Masters of Physics degree and was heavily involved in the designing and building of our Symetrica prototype directional backpack.

She joined Symetrica initially on a three month placement in 2019 and enjoyed the challenging role so much she came back in 2020 to complete her Masters project for six months.

As a returning graduate, Emily is now being involved in some key business projects focussed around Applications and Operations and ensuring that the business delivers products that are fit for purpose in the field.

Symetrica aspires to be a diverse company and encourages women like Emily to join their cutting edge research, development, engineering and production teams. She has been mentored and inspired by Luisa Morales Rueda, Physics team leader at Symetrica giving her the confidence to pursue a career using her physics knowledge and skills.

In her spare time Emily loves watersports being a key role in the university ladies water polo team. She is also a keen open water swimmer, something she took up during the first lockdown when pools weren’t an option and she is training to swim the Solent for charity in September.

Her line manager Mark Foster; Technical Director at Symetrica said “We are delighted that Emily has come back as a real asset to join the team and we all wish her the very best for her future career”.
